PLAYHOUSE FACADE BUILDING WORK

Erith Playhouse is currently bedecked with scaffolding, which can only mean that the long awaited refurbishment of the theatre frontage is taking place.

The improvements will include refurbishment of the existing teak windows and doors, new window box displays, signage and access improvements, including automatic doors, new stairs and disabled ramp. New and more exciting lighting to the front of the building will highlight the local night time economy and encourage more people to visit the Theatre and neighbouring businesses.

We have been very lucky to have obtained grants to cover the full cost of this work. The grants come from the office of the deputy prime minister and from Thames Gateway regeneration sources.

The building work is inevitably causing some disruption and inconvenience but will be well worth it in the long run - apologies to all our patrons while this work is carried out.

These enhancements will improve the appearance and feel of this part of the Erith Riverside Conservation Area, by day and by night. They will help to link the Town Centre to the leisure opportunities at the Riverside, by adding interest and encouraging residents and visitors to visit the businesses in this historic quarter of the town.
