An Inspector Calls

When Inspector Goole calls unexpectedly on the prosperous Birling family, his startling revelations not only shatter the very foundations of their lives, but challenge us all to examine our consciences.

Set on a spring evening in 1912, the wealthy Birlng family are holding a celebratory dinner in honour of their daughter Shiela and her fiancé Gerald, who have announced their engagement. All is well until an unexpected visitor arrives, a police inspector Goole, seeking information from all members of the party. He is investigating the death of a young woman who has commited suicide by drinking disinfectant.

As the investigation proceeds it is quickly revealed that every member of the Birling household plus Sheila Birling's fiancé Gerald Croft has at one time or another known this girl. If indeed this young woman is known to them, how could she have been connected to all five party members? Can any one of this respectable household be held accountable for her death?

The strong cast in this Playhouse producton was lead by Tony Donnelly as Inspector Goole and joined by Graeme Horner, Jean Franks, Claire Lewis McClean, Steve Kent, Ian MacDonald and Janis Moss. The show is directed by Roz Betts.
